Oh no, we have pissed off our entire fan base!! What happened? Oh well, hopefully there are more of you out there who might like what we do. Anyway, sat yesterday and fiddled with grain oscillators, routing the result of them though formant filters. Quite interesting, especially on samples of throat singing. Also dug out my old electric guitar, an ancient MusicMan StingRay (sounds intimidating, doesn't it? Doesn't make me a better guitarist, unfortunately). The result of that was that I discovered that I need a new guitar, the neck on the old one is so soft that you can throw the strings severely out of tune by twisting the neck... could be an alternative to a whammy bar, except for that it does not return to its original tuning when you twist the neck back. I'd like something semi-acoustic actually, but they are a tad expensive. Or Send Us A Message! Hohum... Powerful and cheap technology has made the home-studio a viable alternative rite? yes, but the problem with a one-man operation is just that: one man, two arms, two legs, one...eh never mind, anyways you must start and stop recording yourself , wich can be problematic with a guitar (and the darn cable) dangling round your neck. And I havent even started to think about feeling, performance and bla bla... What I need is what those old bald, loser-musicians hanging in the far dark corner of the music store without ever buying anything calls a "tape-monkey", starting, stopping etc. This rant explains why I haven't still started with those basic trax i mentioned earlier... I seem to have managed to piss off Our Fan, gee, that must mean I'm a real Rock star...!!! Or Send Us A Message! Wednesday, May 15, 2002
Johan: Another day, another entry. Got back from a three-day trip to Berlin yesterday, hence the lack of postings... Pleased to see that a CD is on its way, with a bit of luck I will get it before the weekend. That will keep me busy! Must also join my beloved colleague in the geek club, if that is the definition of "geek". I tend to disagree with the standard definition in our case though, as we both also have quite a bit of emotional depth which is something that geeks are not interested in (or are too scared to be interested in). We are simply not that superficial and... hang on... THE NEW STAR WARS FLICK HAS PREMIERE TOMORROW, GOTTA GO AND GET TICKETS!!! ;-) Or Send Us A Message! Hello dear readers! I finally burned a cd with all the files for "Bleak house". I'll send it by snail-mail to Mr. JL as soon as possible. I have also realized (and accepted) the fact that I'm a Geek, interested in nothing but creating music with extremly complicated methods. Well, actually I'm also interested in getting laid occasionally but that seems to be impossible these days... Ultimately I wish for my complete utter presence of absence in all my work. So there;-) Or Send Us A Message! |
